One of the projects I’m working on is a new slideshow presentation for children about comics and memory, a topic I’ve been interested in since all the way back in my Freddie & Me days (that’s basically what that book is all about). I wrote the above comic in April of 2020, after going to the supermarket wearing a face-mask for the first time.
I don’t know if this will make it into my eventual presentation (I doubt it), but it’s interesting to look back and remember some of the details of what things were like at that horrible moment in time. It’s easy to see some of the things I was wrong about, the idea that we’d make it through this together feels… maybe inaccurate from this vantage point. And as for “after times”, seems like we can’t agree on what the definition of that should be.
