I don’t publicize enough that I have an ongoing ‘zine subscription series that I offer to Premium Supporters of my Patreon. It’s a simple system, roughly every three months I self-publish a new mini-comic and send copies automatically to everyone who backs me. There are no extra postage costs, once I get copies from the printer, they go straight into the mail.
I’ve sent a number of different ‘zine to supporters, but my “flagship” title is the FUN TIME series. These twenty-page comics usually collect some of my better cartoon essays and diary comics, some of them are themed and some are not.

These were all sent to Patreon supporters when they were published. Copies are still available in my online store.
FUN TIME Summer 2023 is a lot different from the first three installments in the series, rather than an anthology type of comic, collecting up a variety of material that’s usually seen print previously online, I am instead publishing an all-new full-length cartoon essay entitled HOT SPACE. The name refers to a 1982 album recorded by the band Queen, which was a commercial and critical failure.
Up until now, this Substack has primarily served as a newsletter for folks interested in knowing about my upcoming workshops, school visits, and new comics. However, I would like to start offering more rewards to paid subscribers, including the same print copies of all new ‘zines that I send to Patreon backers.
Starting with this issue of FUN TIME, paid supporters will now receive print comics from me every few months. Additionally, there will be more exclusive content published here, starting now with the Hot Space essay.
Enjoy!
